Taking card payments, gift cards, customer credit and refunds.
Linking SumUp is what lets you take card payments through PetDesk — online deposits, portal payments and card readers all run through it. You connect it once from Payment Settings and log in with your existing SumUp details.
A SumUp Solo can be paired to PetDesk so totals are sent straight to it — no typing amounts in twice. Put the reader into Cloud API mode, generate a pairing code on the device, and enter it in Payment Settings within five minutes.
Quick Sale is the till, for anything sold without an appointment. Click products to add them to the basket, or use Add Custom Item for a one-off. Sell Gift Card means the customer is buying one; Redeem Gift Card means they are paying with one. Stock comes down automatically. If the customer has an appointment, put the products on the booking instead.
Settings then Payment Settings holds two separate things: bank details, which only ever get printed on invoices, and the SumUp connection, which is what actually enables card payments, deposits, portal payments, the online shop and card readers. Cash, BACS and your own card machine work without SumUp — you just record which was used.
Offline deposits let you take a deposit outside PetDesk and record it by hand, with no SumUp account needed. Switch it on in Settings then Payment Settings, and new bookings offer Hold until deposit received. A held booking keeps its slot on the diary but sends no reminders or confirmation until you record the money, and waits in an amber Awaiting Deposit card on the dashboard. Recording the deposit confirms the booking and takes the amount off the balance due.
Gift cards are prepaid vouchers anyone can buy and anyone can spend, while customer credit sits on a specific customer record. Both are sold and redeemed from the same payment screens as any other sale.
Credit is money held against one customer that comes off their next bill — unlike a gift card, which anyone can buy and anyone can spend. It comes from you giving it, from cancelling a prepaid booking, or from the remainder of a gift card. Apply Credit reveals an inline box with a tick button you must click; the green button alone does not commit it.
